About Big Blox Slots

Big Blox is the latest of Yggdrasil Gaming’s gorgeous slots. It looks a treat and plays wonderfully, even though it’s a remarkably simple game that comes with one big feature. Guess what that is based on the slot title? Yes, indeed, there are big blocks of symbols to be found on the reels and they can make things surprisingly exciting. Big Blox comes with big wins, too, if you are patient and manage your budget. This slot is more volatile than one would expect from a game that pays 243 ways. Check it out yourself and you’ll know what we’re talking about.

Yggdrasil’s slots are rarely not beautiful. Big Blox is definitely a fantastic looking game with lots of fun little details. The scene is set in some jungle where ancient ruins can be found. Whether they refer to a particular culture or not is not quite clear, but to us they looked somewhat Aztec in origin. You have big blocky stone heads or masks and all of them pull grimaces. Since the symbols are all very colourful, none of the faces are particularly scary.

Apart from the big faces, there are also card suit symbols which have been adapted in look and also seem to sport a grimace. In addition to that the soundtrack sounds somewhat indigenous, with a pan flute playing as well as certain drums and rattles. It sounds pretty good and makes for a nice ambient sound that you can easily listen to when playing.

This 5-reel, 3-row slot comes with 243 ways to pay, which means that you simply need three matching symbols on adjacent reels from left to right in order to get a winning combination. Though there is, of course, a bit of twist here.

Big Blox doesn’t have free spins, re-spins or even a mini bonus game of any kind. But that doesn’t mean there is no bonus feature. On every single spin you will get a block of at least 2×2 symbols anywhere on the reels that will form to spin as one big symbol.

If matching symbols line up on the other reels to form at least one winning line, the big symbol breaks up into its smaller counterparts at the end and the wins are counted.

A block will always start with a 2×2 size, but during a spin it may expand, shaking up the reels. It’s possible that one block will cover the whole five reels in a 5×3 block, but that is incredibly rare and requires a lot of patience. You’ll see a 3×2 or 2×3 block more often, but even then rarely anything bigger.

We got one block as big as 3×3 once and that already resulted in a nice payout. That’s especially true when a high paying symbol appear inside it.

Other Slot Machines You Might Enjoy

Despite not having a bonus game, Big Blox doesn’t get boring. The graphics are gorgeous, even charming and the gameplay is fast-paced enough to make it feel as if there’s lots of action. Big Blox is very engaging and you’ll keep chasing that biggest block for a long time.

But be careful. This one could eat up your budget faster than you might think. The low paying symbols don’t pay out much at all and they don’t do it regularly either. You’ll always be hoping to get a high paying symbol in the block and when that happens and you get a winning combination, you can definitely look forward to a nice payday.
