About Gold Rush Slots

A retro slot with a basic setup and a simple aesthetic, Gold Rush is a three reel, one payline slot that hails back to the days of arcades and slot halls, albeit with a modern twist. This is a non progressive slot with some Vegas styled visuals that give you a shot at your own gold rush.

The Gold Rush slot has a very busy layout, but most of that is taken up by the game’s logo and by the payline information, with the actual reels sitting in the bottom right corner and taking up very little space. There are only three reels and you can only see one payline at a time. This is not the sort of thing that we’re into, but it’s a retro style and one that has a large following. It allows for quick play and as there are so few symbols for the game to cycle between, big wins are fairly common.

The prospector symbol pays the most, and you can get 100x, 200x or 400x depending on how many coins you bet. The gold panning equipment is the second highest symbol, but this pays a fraction of what the highest symbol pays, and the others, including the “Bar” symbols, pay even less. You won’t just get wins by filling the payline with a single symbol though, and can also win with a combination of symbols. Again, the prospector plays a starring role here, but you can also get combinations of “Bar” symbols and money bags to unlock some big wins.

There are no bonus rounds on Gold Rush, which is to be expected for a slot that is so small and has so few symbols and paylines. The demographic that likes retro games tends to shy away from big bonus rounds and features, preferring instead to focus entirely on the reels and the simplest form of slot machine play. This is not what we prefer and we are also disappointed to find a game that does not have a bonus round, but in this case, we’re happy to overlook it.

Other Slot Machines You Might Enjoy

If you like retro slots then you’ll probably like what Gold Rush has to offer. But then again, it doesn’t take much too make a successful retro slot, and the vast majority of slot fans prefer bonus slots and video slots. This will appeal to a very small minority of players, and in our personal opinion it is a long way shy of the biggest and best games that the likes of Playtech and Microgaming have on their roster, and even of the games that Rival have created in the past.
